1979 Ford Probe I Concept

The Ford Probe I was the first Probe Concept created. The Probe Concepts that followed were the Probe II, Probe III, Probe IV and Probe V. The Probe cars followed an aerodynamic theme. The Probe I was very angular that had a relatively open cockpit thanks to the extensive use of glass at the front, sides, and rear.

The lightweight and aerodynamic design was done to cope with the soaring gas prices of the early 1980s.

The Probe Concept was a created as a newly opened plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. Also being produced at the plant were the Mazda MX-6 and 626 coupes.
