1994 Honda EVX news, pictures, and information

Many years ago, Honda began examining the possible contributions of electric vehicles to environmental preservation and resource conservation. Following basic research in the 1980s, Honda tested various prototype electric vehicles before exhibiting the EVX concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1993. Since 1994, Honda has been test marketing the CÚV-4 experimental car while continuing to accumulate knowledge and refine technologies toward commercialization of electric vehicles. The Honda EV PLÚS (sales and leasing in Japan began on September 19, 1997), was the result of these substantial efforts.

EVs will make a meaningful difference only when they become used by many people. To attain this much needed popularity they must first be able to offer performance and handling comparable to existing cars. Bearing this in mind, Honda developed the EV PLÚS to provide practical performance and features for real-life driving situations, such as commuting, shopping, and driving around town. Thanks to Honda's advanced passenger-car and EV technologies, the EV PLÚS is large enough to carry four adults in comfort while providing a high-level balance of performance and driving range.
