1971 Nissan 126 X Concept news, pictures, and information

Considered by some to be one of the all-time concept vehicles, the Nissan 126X was introduced at the 1970 Tokyo Motorshow.

Featuring unique eye-catching styling, the 1971 Nissan 126 X came with many fantastic features. The dramatic styling began at the front and went all the way to the rear of the vehicle. The body of the vehicle was modeled by Lesney Products in their Superfast range as it was by SZE of China and Aguti Toy of Argentina.

These features included a variety of colored lights (red, amber and green) that were fitted into the louvered center rib on the front of the car and would illuminate in series depending on whether the 126X was braking, accelerating or cruising. These allowed other road occupants, including pedestrians to tell when the vehicle was approaching.

The Nissan 126X was also powered by a slanted and transversely rear mounted 3 liter version of the six-cylinder L series engine.

Today the original 126X concept remains in its original more and was used very recently in a Nissan Design exhibition of Japan.
