The base transmission was a five-speed manual gearbox and there were disc brakes at all four corners. Mazda offered the second M Edition as a 1995 1/2 edition. It came clothed in Merlot Mica paint and rode on 15-inch BBS alloy wheels. Inside, there was a tan leather interior, and they had a tan vinyl top.
