2003 PONTIAC MONTANA - GREATLY IMPROVED FOR VALUE-CONSCIOUS FAMILIES

Families don't come in one size or style … and neither does Montana. From the added safety of Montana AWD, to the additional convenience of extended wheelbase versions, to the few-frills approach of the Special Value model, there's a Montana for nearly every need. For 2003, Montana gives customers seeking a value-laden vehicle the opportunity to transport their most precious cargo more comfortably.

Extended wheelbase version for Special Value model
Pontiac Montana provides minivan buyers exactly what they want in a vehicle: utility, comfort and safety, with a healthy dollop of rugged sporty styling and driving excitement. Beginning with the 2003 model year, customers who prefer the Special Value model can opt for the extended wheelbase version.

Ideal for families on a budget who require the extra room of the 121-inch wheelbase, this new model offers seven-passenger seating with integral child seat, air conditioning, cruise control, programmable power door locks, AM/FM stereo with an in-dash CD player, and carpeted front and rear floor mats. Providing an even greater level of comfort are optional features like the auxiliary HVAC system for the rear seats, which includes rear-seat fan and temperature controls.

A new 60/40 split-folding second-row bench seat is standard on regular- and extended-wheelbase Special Value models and features an integral child seat, providing a safe and convenient place for very young Montana passengers. The split-folding 60/40-bench seat offers greater flexibility, maximizing passenger- and cargo-carrying capability and facilitating access to Montana's third-row split bench seat.

The 2003 Pontiac Montana also gives customers - especially those in the lower price spectrum - more freedom of choice in equipping their vehicles. Popular features are now available as free-flow, allowing customers to choose the features that are important to them. This improved flexibility ensures 2003 Montana customers can equip their vehicle to best suit their needs, providing an overall better value.

Ideal for those who lead active lifestyles - or for anyone seeking the added safety of all-wheel drive - Montana will continue to offer GM's Versatrak, one of the most advanced approaches to all-wheel drive on the market today.

Fully automatic, requiring no driver input, Versatrak directs torque to those wheels with the best traction - even if it's only one rear wheel. Twin gerotor pumps inside a compact rear drive module automatically sense the difference between the rotational speeds of front and rear tires in low-traction conditions. Before any significant slippage occurs, the pumps engage multi-plate clutches that provide drive to one or both rear wheels. After slippage ceases, the clutches disengage and the vehicle reverts to front-wheel drive.

Introduced for the 2002 model year, the Thunder Sport appearance package returns for 2003. It's available on extended wheelbase models (excluding the Special Value model) and consists of 16-inch chrome wheels, P225/60R16 tires, independent front suspension with MacPherson struts, self-leveling rear shocks and front and rear stabilizer bars. The Thunder Package also includes a unique two-tone leather interior, rear spoiler and special 'Thunder' badging.

Also available is Montana's Gen III entertainment system, 'MontanaVision,' featuring a DVD player with wireless remote and two wireless headsets. Ideal for long and short trips, it keeps family members entertained for hours. The three auxiliary jacks enable passengers to use the DVD player, the radio, and the CD player - all at the same time. The system features a 7-inch video screen that folds out of the way when not in use and on-screen programming. Also available on selected models is an AM/FM stereo system with a six-disc, in-dash CD changer, Radio Data System (RDS), steering wheel-mounted radio controls and rear-seat audio controls.

Montana continues to offer the added safety, security and convenience of OnStar - the nation's leading telematics provider. All Montana models (excluding Special Value) will offer one year of OnStar's Safe & Sound service for free. It includes emergency assistance services, air bag deployment notification, accident assist, roadside assistance, stolen vehicle tracking, remote diagnostics, remote door lock and unlock, remote vehicle alert, horn and lights activation, online concierge services, Virtual Advisor and Personal Calling access.

All Montana models will be powered by the proven 3400 V6 - one of the most durable and dependable engines offered in any minivan … with the best combined and best highway fuel economy. The 3.4L overhead valve V6 produces 185 horsepower at 5200 rpm, and 210 lb-ft (285 Nm) of torque at 4000 rpm - plenty of power to get a fully loaded Montana moving with ease. The 3.4L is mated to an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission.

Olympic White joins Montana's choices of exterior colors for 2003.
