2003 OLDSMOBILE SILHOUETTE MAKES THE JOURNEY ENJOYABLE
As GM's upscale minivan, everything about the Oldsmobile Silhouette's interior is focused on the individual comforts of those aboard, especially in the Premiere model, which features a state-of-the-art entertainment system and other sophisticated features.The Silhouette is aimed at families who need a practical vehicle, but value style and comfort. This luxurious minivan provides each passenger wîth a finely orchestrated space that's filled wîth personal touches to make the longest journey comfortable, such as separate audio for rear passengers.
New for 2003, the Silhouette offers standard 16-inch wheels standard, standard traction control on the two-wheel drive model and two new exterior colors: Olympic White and Galaxy Silver.
'Silhouette is specifically tailored for maximum interior versatility and flexibility wîth a big dose of luxury and refinement,' said Tim Roush, Silhouette marketing director. 'It's a terrific vehicle for long road trips, wîth the strong, dependable 3400 3.4L V6 engine, standard OnStar and advanced safety features. Plus, the Premiere's entertainment system will keep rear-seat passengers occupied for hours.'
All-wheel drive
Silhouette can come equipped wîth GM's Versatrak all-wheel drive system. When needed, Versatrak directs torque to the wheels wîth the best traction on demand, wîth no driver action required. Twin gerotor pumps inside a compact rear drive module automatically sense the difference between the rotational speeds of front and rear tires in low-traction conditions. Before significant slippage occurs, the pumps engage multi-plate clutches that provide drive to one or both rear wheels. Versatrak is the first AWD system that allows for a flat load floor and stowable third-row seat. Versatrak is available on the GLS and Premiere models only.
Along wîth Versatrak comes four-wheel disc brakes and four-wheel independent rear suspension. These combine to create a vehicle wîth a more comfortable ride.
Dual-stage air bags
Dual-stage air bags for driver and front passenger offer maximum protection in high-speed crashes while minimizing injury risk to smaller stature occupants. The system detects vehicle acceleration and crash severity, and provides the appropriate level of air-bag inflation. Front seat mounted side impact air bags are also standard.
DVD-based entertainment system
State-of-the-art entertainment systems are no longer limited to the home. The Silhouette offers DVD players for those who want to have a little entertainment on the road.
The DVD player brings in-vehicle entertainment to a new level, allowing families to enjoy the same digital image quality and versatility featured in state-of-the-art home entertainment systems. The system includes a fold-down 7-inch monitor integrated into the ceiling, providing great picture quality for rear-seat passengers.
The flexible system allows rear-seat passengers to watch movies, play video games or listen to audio CDs. Headphones are included wîth the system so other passengers can listen to the radio or CDs of their choice, while those in the back watch and listen to DVDs.Source - Oldsmobile
