2003 Toyota TF103 news, pictures, and information

The technology demanded by the intense competition of Formula 1 racing, where winners are often determined by the difference of one-tenth or one hundredth of a second, will have significant benefits for Toyota’s overall product development program. Toyota's Formula 1 race car embodies our engineers goal of continual technological improvement.

The Toyota TF103 was designed by Gustav Brunner and used during the 2003 Formula One Season. It was piloted by Olivier Panis and Cristiano da Matta, the reigning CART FedEx Championship Series Champion from 2002. Powering the engine was a Toyota RVX-03 which was mated to a six-speed semi-automatic gearbox. It had Michelin tires and fueled by Esso fuel. The TF103 was lighter than its predecessor, the TF102, and had more downforce.

The car was a joint effort between Gustav Brunner's design team and Keizo Takahashi, chief of Technical co-ordination.

For 2003, the TF103 scored 16 points and carried the team to an 8th place finish in the Constructors' Championship.

After a brief hiatus from the sport Renault returned...[Read more...]
1962 Monaco Grand Prix: McLaren Carries the Cooper Flag back to the Top
By the beginning of the 1962 Formula One season Jack Brabham had left Cooper to form his own racing team. It seemed the glories days of the double World Championship were well and truly behind them. However, left in Brabham's stead would be a man very akin to the Australian in so many ways. And in Bruce McLaren, Cooper had a driver and competitor more than apt to help carry the team forward into the future. The first race of the 1962 season, the Grand Prix of the Netherlands, certainly didn't...[Read more...]
