EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED FROM 2004 BLAZER

For 2004, Blazer continues its reputation as a dependable, well-equipped compact sport utility built on a foundation of security and toughness.

Blazer comes in three versions in 2004: a standard configuration in two-door and four-door, the popular low-stance sporty Xtreme (two-door) and the high-stance ZR2 (two-door) for the serious off-road enthusiast. With its capable Vortec 4300 4.3L V-6, two transmission choices and the available Autotrac four-wheel-drive system on 4x4 models, there's a Blazer that can ably handle the unexpected both on- and off-road. Blazer is a tried and true compact SUV that has continued to experience strong sales.

Tried-and-true SUV
The ever-popular Blazer is positioned between the Tracker and the TrailBlazer in the Chevy sport-utility family, giving Chevy Trucks a comprehensive lineup of small to mid-size utility vehicles. Blazer is available in two- and four-door and two- and four-wheel-drive configurations. The four-door continues to provide the versatility of cargo and passenger capacity in an affordable SUV.

Each Blazer offers a convenience group with cruise control, tilt steering, power door locks and windows, and electric remote-heated exterior mirrors.

Blazer Xtreme
The Blazer Xtreme blends an aggressive exterior appearance with a special Sport Suspension to bring a different attitude to the Chevy Blazer family. Blazer Xtreme features:

• Z87 Sport Suspension

• Aggressive P235/60R16 Eagle LS low-profile tires

• Xtreme deep-dish, five-spoke aluminum wheels

• Lower front fascia with fog lamps

• Lower body-side cladding and aggressive wheel flares

• Body-colored grille, bumpers, lower cladding and flares

• Special 'Xtreme' badging

• Deep-tint windows

• Leather-wrapped steering wheel

• Heavy-duty, weight-distributing platform hitch; maximum towing capacity with manual or automatic
transmission is 2,000 pounds (900 kg)

• Full range of audio systems available, including an in-dash, six-disc CD changer

• Available stripe or the new Flame/Heat decal packages

Blazer ZR2
The off-road ZR2 wide-stance sport performance package is available in 4WD versions of the two-door Blazer. Features include:
• 46-mm Bilstein pressurized shocks

• 3.9-inch-wider tread in front and rear

• 31-inch x 10.5-inch R15 on-/off-road tires

• Specific strengthened front differential gears and drive axles

• Specific rear axle with an 8.5-inch ring gear

• Larger rear wheel bearings

• Longer, larger diameter axle shafts

Plenty of power
Blazer's highly capable performance comes from its standard Vortec 4300 SFI V-6 engine that generates 190 horsepower (142 kw) at 4400 rpm and 250 lb.-ft. (339 Nm) of torque at 2800 rpm. Two-door Blazers are equipped with a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed electronic automatic. When situations call for a little extra traction, the available Autotrac four-wheel-drive system on two-door models automatically shifts power to all four wheels.

The Vortec 4300 V-6 with multi-port fuel injection features a central fuel injector that delivers a separate flow of fuel to six individual hybrid injectors for better performance and improved emissions. For improved efficiency, Blazer's fuel-management system includes a fuel-filler assembly comprised of a multi-layer plastic fuel tank, revised fuel lines and vapor purge lines. Onboard refueling vapor recovery (ORVR) compliance components are available to help reduce unwanted emissions. To meet low-emission requirements in various states, a National Low Emission Vehicle (NLEV) system is also available on Blazer.

Safe and secure
In addition to its standard anti-lock brake system and front-passenger air bags, the Blazer features an optional programmable auto door lock/unlock feature that allows customers to set the locking and unlocking functions to their preferences. On- or off-road, the Chevy Blazer is a confident performer, thanks to its standard Z85 sporty/firm suspension, which accommodates a variety of driving needs.
