2004 Tata Indigo Advent news, pictures, and information

Tata Motors, India’s largest automobile manufacturer, unveiled the Tata Indigo Advent – a softroader, at the 74th Geneva Auto Show.

The Advent is an extension of Tata Motors’ versatile compact car platform. The car is a contemporary crossover offering a combination of attractive features of a sports utility vehicle and a station wagon. With the handling characteristics of a car, the roominess of a minivan and the appearance / stance of a sports utility vehicle, the Indigo Advent offers a family-friendly alternative to a bulky SÚV.

The Indigo Advent is powered by a 85 ps (62 kw) gasoline and a 70 ps (52 kw) turbo-charged inter-cooled diesel engine. It rides on independent McPherson strut suspension at the front and 3-link, independent suspension at the rear, providing superior riding comfort and handling. High ground clearance provides a commanding driving position. The car’s aesthetic appeal is enhanced by trendy and contemporary styling cues.

Tata Motors also showcased the new Indica hatchback wîth a sporty look and several updated features on the exteriors and interiors. Apart from being one of the largest selling car brands in India, it is well on the way to establishing itself in European markets.

The new Indica hatchback and station wagon will be available in Europe later this year.

Ratan N. Tata, chairman of the Tata Group said, “The new Indigo Advent continues to demonstrate the company’s ability to explore and harness the versatility of the car platform and it showcases the engineering capabilities at Tata Motors. The thrust of the company is to continually innovate and to provide cars best suited for the changing needs of our customers worldwide.”

The 1990s, however, would be an entirely different story altogether. Boutsen's breakth...[Read more...]
