Panhard et Levassor firm was based in Paris, France and dates their existence back to 1891. The history began even before that date - in 1875 the company was manufacturing Deutz gas engines. In 1891 the company began producing automobiles of their own creation.
The Panhard Dyna was very distinguishable by its oval-shaped grille. The headlamps were incorporated into the fenders while the round parking lights were located below the headlamps. Though the body looked heavy it only weighed just over 200 pounds.
The Dyna 54 was the four-door sedan with seating for six while the Dyna Junior was a two-door, two-person roadster. Both were powered by a horizontally-opposed two-cylinder engine that produced 42 horsepower. Uncommon for the time, the vehicle used a front-wheel drive configuration. The steering was rack-and-pinion unit while the brakes were hydraulic drums.
The vehicle was economical and practical. The Dyna 54 cost around $2600 while the Junior cost $2200. Fuel economy was exceptional with the Junior rated at 44 miles-per-gallon. Top speed for the Junior was around 75 mph.
