From 2004 to May 6th of 2006, Porsche built 1,270 examples of the Carrera GT at their new facility in Leipzig, Germany. Of those, 604 examples were sent to the United States.
Mounted midship in the Carrera GT was a 5.7-liter V10 engine developing 605 horsepower. Zero-to-sixty took just 3.8 seconds with the 100-mph mark shattered in under seven seconds. Top speed was in the neighborhood of 205 mph. Mated to the race-bred engine is a six-speed manual gearbox.
The Carrera GT has a carbon-fiber monocoque finished in GT silver, and the sub-frame structure was produced and assembled by the ATR Composites Group in Italy. Both the clutch and the Carrera GT's brake components employ ceramic composite materials, making them significantly stronger and lighter than conventional systems. The car rides on 19- and 20-inch wheels that were made from ultra-lightweight forged magnesium. That car tips the scale at a mere 3,050 lbs. At above 70 mph, the GT deploys an automated rear wing, providing additional downforce and stability at speed.
Inside, carbon-fiber and brushed aluminum is abundant. There are black leather seats, steering wheel and interior accents that make it comfortable enough for everyday driving. Other luxury amenities include one-touch automatic windows as well as electronically adjustable heated mirrors. There are front- and side-impact airbags as well as anti-lock brakes.
This example was purchased by the current owner in late-September 2007 from a California-based dealer specializing in European motor cars, with 894 miles on the odometer. Current, the car shows just 3,100 miles.
In 2012, the car was offered for sale at the RM Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was estimated to sell for $350,000-$400,000. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $374,000 inclusive of buyer's premium.

ATLANTA, FEBRÚARY 5, 2003 --- Stuttgart, Germany-based Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG will unveil its V10-powered Carrera GT high-performance roadster in March at the Geneva International Motor Show. With more than 600 horsepower and racing-inspired technology, Porsche's top-of-the-line sports car delivers pure performance.
The Carrera GT has a pure racing engine. Its 10-cylinder powerplant wîth dry-sump lubrication is based on Porsche's 5.5-liter V10 naturally aspirated engine developed especially for racing. For production, technicians at the Development Center in Weissach, Germany, have increased the displacement to 5.7 liters. Maximum output is 612 horsepower (DIN*) at 8,000 rpm, wîth peak torque rated at 437 pound-feet. The Carrera GT has a top test-track speed of 205 miles per hour (330 k/h) and accelerates from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds. Its specially developed six-speed manual gearbox allows it to go from zero to 124 mph (200 km/h) in 9.9 seconds.
The specifications demanded a consistent lightweight construction and sports car dimensions. With a length of 15.12 feet (4.61 meters), a width of 6.3 feet (1.92 meters), a height of 3.81 feet (1.16 meters) and a wheelbase of 8.96 feet (2.73 meters), the roadster weighs 3,042 pounds (1,380 kilograms).
Porsche developed a new construction concept for road and racing vehicles. The Carrera GT's monocoque and entire sub-frame are made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), and Porsche has applied to patent this technology. Carbon is the only material that, after complex processing, can meet the requirements needed to combine top-class driving performance and driving dynamics wîth minimum weight at maximum rigidity.
With attainable speeds of more than 186 mph (300 km/h), aerodynamics plays a crucial role. To achieve as high output co-efficients as possible (so-called 'downforce'), the Carrera GT has an underbody geometry that can only be found in similar form in pure racing sports cars. The underbody is completely cased in carbon fiber and provides an additional suction effect thanks to its rear diffusor and flow channels.
The Carrera GT also features the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system. Porsche has supplied this component since 2001 and is the first manufacturer to include it in a mass-produced vehicle (the 911 Carrera GT2). A global innovation – the PCCC (Porsche Ceramic Composite Clutch) – transmits power to the drivetrain.
The Carrera GT's extremely light magnesium wheels are produced wîth a special forging process and are offered for the first time on a mass-produced vehicle. The tires were specially developed for the Carrera GT (265/35 ZR 19 in the front, and 335/30 ZR 20 in the rear).
The new Porsche roadster possesses a simple-operation roof system. It consists of two individual carbon fiber lightweight shells, each weighing only 5.3 pounds (2.4 kilograms). These shells can be stored in the front luggage compartment.
The first Carrera GT models produced at the Porsche plant in Leipzig, Germany, will be delivered to customers at the end of 2003.

Acceleration was impressive, going from zero-to-sixty in just 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 205 mph. The Carrera GT had a six-speed manual gearbox in the rear-wheel transaxle and four-wheel ceramic composite disc brakes. They had a carbon-fiber monocoque and sub-frame structure produced and assembled by the ATR Composites Group in Italy. Both the clutch and brake components employ ceramic composite materials, combining strength and lightness. Even the Carrera GT's massive 19- and 20-inch wheels are made from ultra-lightweight forged magnesium. An automated rear wing deploys above 70 mph, providing additional downforce and stability. Safety features include front- and side-impact airbags as well as anti-lock brakes.
This example is a late-production example that is finished in 'one-off' Blue Mirabeau Metallic (PPG 525) exterior and contrasting Maserati Cuoio interior. The odometer reads fewer than 11,000 miles and is complete with all factory books, Porsche-supplied Schroth four-point racing belts, tools, luggage and programming DVDs, with original packing intact, along with its correct battery tender.
In 2012, this car was offered for sale at the Amelia Island sale presented by RM Auctions. It was estimated to sell for $300,000 - $350,000 and was offered without reserve. As bidding came to a close, the car had sold for $385,000 inclusive of buyer's premium.

As the 1990s came to a close, Porsche began development on a successor to its 911 GT1 of the 1990s. FIA rule changes frustrated plans for the new endurance racing model, Porsche forged ahead with a production version nonetheless.
Italy's ATR Composites Group produced and assembled a carbon fiber monocoque and sub-frame structure. Both clutch and brake components employ ceramic composite materials. The car rides on 19- and 20-inch wheels which are made from ultra-lightweight forged magnesium. Mounted mid-ship is a 5.7-liter V10 offering 605 horsepower which is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Production of the Carrera GT was handled at Porsche's then-new facility at Leipzig, Germany. By the time the assembly line halted in May 2006, some 1,270 examples had been produced, of which only 604 were destined for the American market.
This example is finished in GT Silver with black upholstery and yellow brake calipers. It has been driven less than 800 actual miles since departing the factory.
