Overview
The Lincoln LS is a four-door luxury sports sedan with power, ride, handling and amenities that establish it as a unique driver's car that sacrifices nothing in terms of luxury and comfort.

The 2005 Lincoln LS is available in V-6 Luxury, V-6 Appearance Package, V-6 Premium, V-8 Sport and V-8 Ultimate configurations.

All Lincolns come with complimentary maintenance for 12 months or 12,000 miles. Lincoln LS is proudly built in Wixom, Mich.

Design and Equipment
The exterior of the updated LS includes a signature Lincoln grille with a full-perimeter chrome surround, a simpler bumper fascia design and new lamps. High-intensity-discharge headlamps are available. All LS models have dual chrome exhaust tips.

Inside the 2005 LS are satin nickel accents and a choice of real American walnut burl, aluminum or black lacquer trim.

Storage space inside the LS includes center and overhead consoles and in-door map pockets.

Powertrain
The 2005 Lincoln LS is powered by a choice of two engines: An all-aluminum 32-valve, DOHC 3.9-liter V-8 and a DOHC 24-valve 3.0-liter V-6.

The V-8 produces 280 horsepower and 286 pound-feet of torque, while the all-aluminum DOHC 24-valve 3.0-liter V-6 produces 232 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque.

Both engines deliver power through a five-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. The V-8 cars are fitted with a SelectShiftTM automatic transmission feature, which allows drivers to manually command gear changes.

For 2005, the transmission has been improved for smoother shifts.

Safety
The sophisticated chassis of the LS provides the first measure of safety - controllability. In emergency situations, electronic systems such as the available AdvanceTrac® and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution help maintain control.

Comprehensive safety equipment includes an optional side-curtain air bag system, in addition to the standard dual front and side-impact air bags. Second generation advanced driver and front passenger air bags are equipped with occupant position, weight and saftey-belt usage sensors as part of the Personal Safety SystemTM.

In 2004 LS was named a 'Best Pick' by the independent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, based on offset frontal crash testing. In U.S. government testing, LS earned five-star driver and four-star passenger ratings in frontal impact testing, five stars for rear impact and a five-star rollover rating.

V-6 Luxury: 3.0-liter V-6 engine and five-speed automatic transmission, air conditioning with dual automatic temperature control and air filtration, all-speed traction control, 16-inch seven-spoke painted aluminum wheels, power-adjustable front driver and passenger seats with leather seating surfaces and an 80-watt in-dash CD-cassette stereo, power-tilt and telescoping steering wheel.

V-6 Appearance Package adds or replaces: Auto-dimming interior rearview and exterior driver mirrors with approach lamps, Homelink®, power lumbar support, memory for driver seat, steering wheel, adjustable pedals and exterior mirrors, body-color monochromatic bumpers, color-keyed grille surround with chrome vertical bars, color-keyed rear license plate surround, unique 16-inch seven-spoke polished aluminum wheels and a Soundmark Audiophile six-disc CD changer with 12 speakers and satellite radio compatibility.

V-6 Premium adds or replaces: American burl walnut interior trim, trunk cargo net, chrome bumper inserts, power folding mirrors, 16-inch 11-spoke painted-aluminum wheels.

V-8 Sport adds: 3.9-liter V-8 engine, sport-tuned suspension, monochromatic bumper inserts, aluminum interior accents, electronic message center, power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with memory and 17-inch seven-spoke machined aluminum wheels.

V-8 Ultimate adds: AdvanceTrac®, power moonroof, American burl walnut interior accents, trunk cargo net, adjustable rear seat head restraints, heated-and-cooled front seats and 17-inch eight-spoke chrome aluminum wheels.

LSE Appearance Package adds: 17-inch seven-spoke chrome wheels, unique front fascia with fog lamps, body-color grille surround with chrome vertical bars, modified rocker panels, unique rear fascia with body-color license plate surround, decklid spoiler, all-red taillamps and unique LSE-badged floor mats.

Sirius satellite radio is available as a dealer-installed option. The LS also offers a DVD/Touch Screen Lincoln Navigation System, combined with the Lincoln Soundmark THX-certified CDX6 audio system. Other options include heated rear seats on V-6 Appearance Package and V-8 models, side-curtain air bags and extended rear park assist.
