Cantonian (Canton Ohio) Arthur Holmes had been an executive for the Franklin Motorcar Company and returned to his home town to produce approximately 500 of these air cooled luxury cars. The company failed when the vice-president was charged with embezzlement and larceny. Reorganization plans failed.
Note the framed original stock certificate (next to the front wheel). This certificate was issued to Mr. Charles Carlson for the purchase of 10 shares Common Stock in the Holmes Automobile Company on April 9, 1917. Also note the certificate is actually signed by Arthur Holmes, the President of the Holmes Automobile Company.
