The prototype of this two-seater hardtop celebrated its premiere at the IAA 2003 in Frankfurt.
We do not deny our Wiesmann-Roadster's classic style, but have nevertheless developed a completely new vehicle. The Wiesmann race GT that was tested under extreme conditions
(inter alia during the 24 h race on the Nürburgring) supplied us with the basic data.
With its absolutely unique and distinctive design, a chassis made of aluminium and the
beefy V8-engine, the Wiesmann GT offers you pure and absolute driving pleasure.

Star of the 2002 Essen Motorshow, was Wiesmann's fixed-head concept. For the first time in the small German manufacturer's history, they presented a coupe bodied car. Like their roadsters the 'GT' relies heavily on BMW mechanicals. But unlike their roadsters it is powered by a V8 engine instead of the 'sixes' used in the open-top Wiesmanns. The complete chassis is constructed from aluminum, resulting a very low curb weight for a car its size.
The GT shown on the Essen stand was a prototype of a production car to be developed throughout 2003. Production should start in the fourth quarter of 2003. The elegant lines of the prototype will only be changed in details for the production car's body.Source - Wiesmann
