1998 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class

The 1998 Mercedes-Benz SL 600 Coupe Roadster cost $123,200 and was among their top most expensive vehicles at the time. Only 574 examples were produced and each was fitted with a dual-overhead-cam V-12 engine that offered 390 horsepower. These luxury performance machines rested on a short 99-inch wheelbase and offered comfortable seating for two.

The 'SL' designation has been used by Mercedes-Benz since 1954. At the time, SL was German for 'Sport Leight' meaning Sport Light. It was first applied to the 300 SL Gullwing, named after its gullwing 'upward-opening' doors. The SL name has continued in the Mercedes-Benz line-up representing their sports models.
