1978 BMW 6 Series

1978 BMW 6 Series 1978 BMW 6 Series Sold for $47,300 at 2018 Gooding & Company : Pebble Beach.
The first generation of the 6 Series was produced from 1976 to 1988. The body style was a 2-door coupe and power was provided by a range of M30 straight-6 engines. Later generations were equipped with inline-four, V8, and V10 engines with both natural aspiration and turbocharging.

French designer Paul Bracq was hired away from Mercedes-Benz, joining BMW in 1970. He would be responsible for many important designs that followed, including the BMW 520, BMW 2002 Turbo, the first BMW 3 series (E21), and the BMW 6 series. The 6 Series answered customers' requests for a lightweight, fast, luxurious, and attractive sporting machine.

This particular is finished in the rear color scheme of Amazonitgrün Metallic (Amazon Green Metallic) with Farngrün (Fern Green) leather interior. It is a well-optioned numbers-matching German-market 633 CSi that received upgrades in period from Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen, including front and rear spoilers, wheels, steering wheel, and shift knob.

The BMW was imported into the United States in 1984 by a collector who has preserved the car for over three decades. Documentation includes service records and fuel stops throughout his stewardship.

The engine produces nearly 200 horsepower and is mated to a five-speed Getrag manual gearbox.
