About the Founder
Don Nicholson thinks its time to give Volvo owners the same quality aftermarket 'tuning' enhancements and modifications that other import sedan buyers currently enjoy. Nicholson founded EVOLVE - the first U.S.-based design and manufacturing company dedicated to maximizing the untapped potential of late-model Volvos and creating performance-enhanced street machines that imprint an individual design statement without compromising the respected Volvo heritage.
Helping impact its corporate launch, EVOLVE has been selected by Vic Doolan, President of Volvo Cars North America, to build two signature S60Rs to be unveiled at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, Nov. 4-7, 2003. One will be displayed in Ford's exhibit, representing Volvo's latest performance innovations, and the second will be showcased in a special 'Featured Vehicle' display.
'There is no better way to launch EVOLVE and quickly gauge the industry and market response to our products,' says Nicholson. 'We can't wait to assess what we're sure will be a hugely positive reaction from Volvo, from parent company Ford, and ultimately from consumers.'
Grand-nephew and namesake of National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) legend 'Dyno Don,' Nicholson is no stranger to performance. After spending his youth immersed in the horsepower culture of performance motorsports, Nicholson wants to bring that same excitement to a line of Volvo performance products and systems. His vision is to create individualized Volvos that will appeal to a variety of buyers - from the young adult who wants a sport suspension coupled with an aggressive wheel/tire combination, horsepower enhancements and race-inspired looks, to the executive looking for a personalized, distinctive change from his neighbors' import rides.
'Many import car buyers are opting for BMW, Audi, Mercedes or Volkswagen rather than Volvo because they're aware of the range of styling and performance options already available in the marketplace for these makes,' says Nicholson. 'We want to provide those same performance and styling enhancements for Volvo customers and allow them to transform their vehicles into high-performance machines that can outperform all but the purest-bred sports cars.'
Evolve manufactures uniquely branded products including body styling elements such as front, rear, and side enhancements, spoilers, signature grilles and trim pieces. Interior styling appointments include pedals, gauge packages, shifters and audio enhancements. The company also provides 18- to 22-inch wheels, engine upgrades, larger turbos and intercoolers, performance suspension systems, increased flow exhausts, larger brake rotors and calipers, lighting enhancements and a variety of underhood products including ignition upgrades and air intakes.
EVOLVE, headquartered in Monrovia, Calif., is a design, manufacturing and marketing company, dedicated to providing high-quality styling, performance and safety products for late-model Volvo owners who want distinctive enhancements and upgrades.
