Coupe

This Corvette is 1 of 5 factory sponsored Corvettes to race at Sebring in 1962. The #5 Corvette was from Alan Green Chevrolet in Seattle, Washington. It was the only west coast entry for Corvette. Bardahl Oil Company also sponsored this car. The drivers of the car were Jerry Grant, a well-known race car driver and Pat Pigotte, also an experienced sports car driver.

The racing crew made extensive modifications using parts Chevrolet supplied through the racing division. Some of those modifications included a 37.5 gallon quick fill gas tank, special hood louvers, wind deflector and suspension, although they had to conform to strict guidelines that were permissible under FIA regulations.

The grueling Sebring course took its toll on drivers and cars. In the end, the car placed and performed well considering this was the first race that the car was entered in. After Sebring, the car returned to the west coast and racked up many wins in SCCA competition.
