The Jordan EJ14 was used during the 2004 season and made its inaugural debut at the Silverstone track only a few short months prior to the start of the Australian Grand Prix. Compared to its predecessor, the EJ13, only a few changes had occurred. The largest improvements were the rear wheel which had been updated to comply with new regulations set for the 2004 season. The car was finished in yellow livery and powered by a Ford/Cosworth ten-cylinder engine matted to a seven-speed semi-automatic gearbox.
Nick Heidfeld and Giorgio Pantano were the two drivers. Pantano was a Formula 3000 driver who brought with him big sponsorship money. Heidfeld was selected due to his skill and proven talent. Timo Glock replaced Pantano at Canada.
The budget for the team was scarce and as a result, their performance reflected this drawback. Only five points were scored all season.
At the close of the season, Ford withdrew its support from Formula One racing which meant the team was left without engines. The team planned on leaving at the close of the 2004 season, but a deal with Toyota meant they would have engines for the 2005 season.
The team ended the 2004 season 9th in the Constructor Championship points.
