The drivers for the Minardi team in 2005 was Christian Albers, Enrico Toccacelo, Patrick Friesacher, and Chanoch Nissany. The car was the PS05 which underwent testing at the Mugello circuit. The car made its offical unveling at the San Marino Grand Prix which marked the Manardi's 325th start in 20 years of World Championship competition.
Mounted mid-ship was a Cosworth TJ2005 three-liter V10 engine mounted at a 90-degree angle. It was mated to a Minardi paddle operated six-speed semi-automatic gearbox. Improvements were made to the aerodynamics of the vehicle which included side pods to help increase downforce and reduce drag.
The team accumulated seven points during the season including the debacle at the 2005 United States Grand Prix. The team finished in fifth and sixth place after only six cars fielded the event.
The Minardi team had nearly gone out of existence in 2001 when it was purchased by Australian Paul Stoddart and merged it with his European Racing 3000 team. The team continued in F1 competition until 2005 when they were purchased by Red Bull.
