2001 TAHOE: Rugged, Capable and Authentically Chevrolet
The newly redesigned Chevrolet Tahoe remains true to its original mission as a rugged sport utility built on a rock-solid Chevrolet truck chassis. For 2001, Tahoe's legendary smooth ride and rich interior appointments provide the ideal package for full-size sport utility buyers who are lòòking for a smart alternative to higher priced SÚVs. 'Tahoe is an authentic sport utility that's popular wîth off-road enthusiasts and urban adventurers alike,' said Tahoe brand manager Steve Ramsey. 'Tahoe is the genuine article, wîth a tried and true reputation for dependability that the competition just can't match.' Tahoe is available in three models: Base,uplevel LS and top-of-the-line LT — all available in two- and four-wheel-drive configurations.NEW FOR 2001 — The Chevrolet Tahoe offers two new colors – Forest Green Metallic and Redfire Metallic – for 2001. Although color choices were limited last year, the LT now has expanded the paint selections and all color choices are available for 2001. On the inside, Tahoe's cup holders are now placed at the front of the seat on the 40/20/40 split bench. And there's a new Tan interior color that replaces Medium Oak.
RÚGGED CONSTRÚCTION — Tahoe's rigid body structure provides a comfortable ride wîth unparalleled durability over the long haul. Its modular frame provides a solid, stable platform that absorbs road shock and vibration. Thanks to a host of structural improvements such as larger body sections, stiffened joints and a 400% increase in body mount stiffness versus the previous generation, the Tahoe lives up to its Chevy Truck dependability heritage.
WORLD-CLASS VORTEC V8 POWER — When the award-winning Chevrolet Silverado debuted in 1998, it featured the advanced technology of the Vortec V8 family of engines. For 2001, Tahoe offers the Vortec 4800 V8 and Vortec 5300 V8. Both powerplants achieve a remarkable balance of performance and efficiency and are the most powerful V8's in the §egmènt, while maintaining §egmènt-leading fuel economy. Both of Tahoe's Vortec V8 engines are compliant wîth Low Emission Vehicle Standards, and for 2001 the recommended oil change interval has been increased to as much as 10,000 miles.IMPECCABLE ROAD (and off road) MANNERS — Because Tahoe owners include both urban professionals wîth families and outdoor enthusiasts who might take to the trails at a moment‘s notice — Chevrolet engineers designed Tahoe's drivetrain and suspension to 'get away' at any time. Tahoe's optional §egmènt-exclusive Autoride system (4x4 only) automatically controls shock damping on a continuous, real-time basis to smooth out bumps in the road. For improved traction when the going gets tough, Tahoe's Autotrac four-wheel-drive system offers four drive modes plus neutral to suit nearly any type of driving condition. To provide two-wheel-drive models wîth more traction, Tahoe's Electronic Traction Assist system delivers more controlled acceleration and stability over most slippery surfaces.
CHEVROLET OFF-ROAD WARRIOR — The Tahoe Z71 model takes off-road adventures to all-new heights in 2001. Its specially tuned off-road suspension uses specific shocks and jounce bumpers combined wîth standard stabilizer bars to help Tahoe Z71 conquer the most challenging landscapes. A roof rack wîth lights and specific rocker treatment distinguish the Z71'a appearance.A locking rear differential and aggressively treaded P265/70R17 all-terrain tires provide maximum traction. Beneath its expressive Z71 badging and distinctive appearance cues, skid plates protect vital underbody components. The OnStar system is standard wîth the Z71 package to provide added security for those who venture off the beaten path.
ÚNMATCHED VERSATILITY AND ÚTILITY — Tahoe's advanced available third row bench seat creates seating for as many as nine passengers. The third row rear seat features a unique 50/50 split-fold design to provide a variety of cargo and passenger-carrying configurations and more than two inches of additional headroom than its primary competitor. For even more cargo room, the seats may be flipped forward and stowed. Or when needs arise, these light seats can be individually and easily removed to provide a flat load surface. Simply put, these seats are light and flexible for a variety of uses.ADVANCED SAFETY TECHNOLOGY — Tahoe represents some of the most advanced safety engineering in a Chevrolet full-size SÚV. Standard four-wheel ventilated disc anti-lock brakes add security, while dynamic rear proportioning helps optimize front to rear brake balance while reducing front brake wear under heavy trailering/hauling conditions. Front-seat side-impact airbags and seat-mounted safety belts for the driver and right front passenger enhance comfort and ease of use. And OnStar, standard on LT and optional on LS, adds safety and security features like automatic air bag deployment notification and emergency assistance wîth remote location.
RÚGGED, YET EASIER ON THE ENVIRONMENT — The 2001 Tahoe exemplifies Chevrolet's efforts to reduce the impact of its vehicles on the environment. To reduce disposable landfill material, Tahoe features long life transmission fluid and engine coolant, 100,000-mile spark plugs and wires and a stainless steel exhaust system. If all of Tahoe's molded plastic parts were recycled at the end of their life cycle, 45,000 tons of plastic would avoid the landfills annually!
