1984 Buick Riviera

The 1984 Buick Riviera was available as a 2-door coupe or convertible, with just 500 examples of the Convertible built. A very small figure considering there were 56,210 examples of the base Riviera Coupe and an additional 1,153 examples of the T Type Riviera Coupes built in 1984. The Convertible was custom built by Buick and sold $25,830, which was an additional $10,000 over the base coupe.

All Riviera's received a new grille and front end panel, along with changes to the taillamp styling.

Powering the Riviera was a 4.1 liter four-barrel V6 mated to a four-speed overdrive automatic. An optional 5.0-liter carbureted V8 and a 5.7-liter diesel were available as optional equipment. The T Type Riviera was powered by a turbocharged V6 engine with sequential fuel injection and offering 190 horsepower. The T Type Riviera had a new turbo boost gauge and LED tachometer, new accent stripe, leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, and styled black mirrors. Other standard equipment on the T Type included blacked-out grille, Gran Touring suspension, Tungsten-halogen headlamps, and styled aluminum wheels

Coupes had a front bench seat while the convertibles had bucket front seats. The convertibles also received a new cloth headliner and could be purchased with an electric defogger for the glass back window. Standard equipment included Firemist paint, four-wheel disc brakes, custom locking wire wheel covers, and trunk carpeting.

Standard equipment on the Riviera was an AM/FM electronically-tuned stereo with automatic power antenna, clock, electric door locks, power six-way driver's seat, cruise control, automatic level control, air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, a notchback 55/45 front seat, tinted glass, and power windows.
