Berlinetta
Coachwork: Bertone
Designer: Franco Scaglione
Chassis Num: 103 TV 071366
Engine Num: 103 006 071608

This vehicle was designed by Scaglione and built by Bertone. It is a one-off prototype built atop a Fiat chassis and powered by a Stanguellini 1100cc engine. The goal was to produce a limited run of these Fiat Stanguellinis, though only two were ever created.

The Stanguellini Company was famous in the 1950s and 1960s for building fast little sports cars based on Fiat mechanics.

These little Stanguellini coupes were built for the Paris and New York Auto Shows in 1954, and they have many similar features to the three Alfa Romeo B.A.T. series of prototypes.

The first owner of this car was Briggs Cunningham, who purchased it for his wife Laura after the New York Auto Show. It then passed to Indianapolis 500 driver Luciano Tonino who gave it to his son Alciente as a wedding gift in 1955. He owned the car until 2006. The current owners had the car restored in the late 2000s.

1963 Andre Simon/Lloyd Casner Maserati Tipo 151/2
At a time when Maserati's financial picture couldn't have looked more bleak, it would be enticed to build what many would end up considering to be one of their finest sportscars ever. It would even be suggested it could have been one of the greatest of all time if Maserati had had the money to develop it. Unfortunately, the Maserati Tipo 151 forever lives in relative obscurity when it truly deserves to be remembered as much more. It is often remarked that for a race team to win a championship...[Read more...]
