1929 Buick Series 116 news, pictures, and information

Sedan
Chassis Num: 2263843

Sold for $12,100 at 2010 RM Auctions.
For 1929, Buick offered three new series, the 116, 121, and 129. These three series were named after their wheelbase measurements. The 1929 Buicks had windshields that were slight raked on closed body models, and all models had fuel pumps, Marvel carburetors, and Delco-Remy ignition. Closed models had dual electric wipers, adjustable front seats and side cowl ventilators. Styling was new, and these were the first cars styled by General Motors' Art and Colour department.

The 1929 Buicks were available in 43 exterior color options. The Series 116 was available as a two- or four-door sedan, a Sport Coupe Roadster, Business Coupe, or a 4-door Touring Sedan. The engine was an overhead valve six-cylinder unit that displaced 239.1 cubic-inches and produced 94 horsepower. They had a three-speed sliding gear transmission and four-wheel mechanical drum brakes.

This two-door Sedan is an original car that has never been restored. It is a right-hand drive export model that was purchased new by Mr. Sichel in Uruguay and has been in the same family's ownership from new. It is one of just 90 in this body style that were exported, it has dual side-mount spares and wire wheels, plus a luggage rack and trunk.

In 2010, this car was offered for sale at the Vintage Motor Cars of Hershey presented by RM Auctions. It was estimated to sell for $15,000 - $25,000 and offered without reserve. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $12,100, which included buyer's premium.
