The 1963 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight rested on an exclusive 126-inch wheelbase and a new body style joined the list, called a Custom Sports Coupe Hardtop. It was the only body style with the 345 horsepower Starfire engine. The other body styles came with a 394 CID V8 rated at 330 horsepower and 440 lb.-feet of torque. Hydra-Matic, power brakes, power steering, and self-regulating clock were standard, as were the dual rear-seat cigarette lighters, special headliner, and special rocker panel moldings. The interior upholstery was finished in leather or vinyl.

Other standard items included a 21-gallon fuel tank, full-flow oil filter, foam seat cushions, deep pile carpeting, die-cast grille, special molding package, and heavy-duty air cleaner.

Body styles on the Ninety-Eight included the 2-door Holiday Hardtop, town sedan, Luxury Sedan, Sports Sedan, convertible, and aforementioned Custom Sport Coupe. Prices ranged from $3,980 for the Town Sedan and rose to $4,380 for the Custom Sport Coupe. The Luxury Sedan (often condensed to L/S) was named for the previous 4-door 6-window hardtop.

Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight models were now produced in Lansing, Kansas City, Southgate, Wilmington, and Linden.
