2007 Dodge Viper GTS-R news, pictures, and information

Coupe

This Dodge was the first pilot vehicle for the entire Dodge Viper Racing Program. The chassis and many of the components were built by British engineering firm Reynard Motorsports, and then sent to factory-backed teams in Europe and North America. Dodge had agreements with the French racing and engineering firm ORECA to race the vehicles in Europe along with Canaska/Southwinds Motorsports for the North American competitions

Only 57 Viper GTS-R models were built and most were sold directly to customers to compete in whatever racing series would allow them. The rest were tagged for factory-backed race teams. Production of all GTS-R models ended in 2005, though many continued to race for years to come.

This vehicle was used at the Laguna Seca reveal and later raced at the Daytona 500 and 12 Hours of Sebring. It qualified for the 1998 24 Hours of LeMans, though it did not run the race.

The V-10 engine displaces 8-liters and produces 700 horsepower. It has a six-speed manual Borg-Warner racing version T-56 transmission with disc brakes in the front and rear.
