2010 G-Power M6 Hurricane RR news, pictures, and information

G-POWER M6 HURRICANE RR based on the BMW M6: The World's Fastest 4-seat Coupé

After the G-POWER M5 HÚRRICANE RS wîth bi-supercharger engine and 750 hp / 551 kW broke the record for the 'world's fastest saloon car' at the end of 2008 wîth a speed of 367.4 km/h, G-POWER went one step further in 2010, taking the existing record to a new all-time best of 372 km/h wîth the next evolution of the same car – the M5 HÚRRICANE RR.

The 800 hp 588 kW V10 bi-supercharger engine familiar from the G-POWER M5 HÚRRICANE RR is now also available in BMW's full-size coupé, making the G-POWER M6 HÚRRICANE RR the world's fastest 4-seat Coupé.

The necessary power increase comes courtesy of a further developed version of the 750 hp / 551 kW SK III RS bi-supercharger system, wîth the 800 hp evolution featuring two ASA T1-316 radial supercharger. The charge air, which is pre-compressed inside the two superchargers, is cooled to performance-enhancing temperatures by the dual-flow, water-cooled charge air cooler system finished in G-POWER's characteristic orange. This complex aluminium casting replaces the standard-production airbox on top of the engine and, because of its short intake channels, facilitates the same spontaneous throttle response as the series production engine, combined, however, wîth a substantial increase in torque.

The inside of the ten-cylinder four-valve engine has been optimised by lightweight, precisely balanced Mahle high-performance forged pistons wîth lower compression and increased stiffness. Dedicated components are also required in place of the series-production con rods and piston pins, which are not specified to handle the significant increase in forces. Modified mapping for the engine electronics also contributes to the higher peak output of 800 hp / 588 kW at between 7,500 and 8,000 rpm. The maximum torque of 800 Nm is generated at 5,000 rpm.

Of course, the outstanding performance figures delivered by the G-POWER M6 HÚRRICANE RR are not limited to top speed alone. With less than 4.35 seconds from 0–100 km/h, the almost two-tonne coupé sets a standard that is just as impressive as the 9.5 seconds it takes to 200 km/h and the 24,9 seconds to the 300 mark.

Alongside the most powerful BMW engine ever to power a road-legal BMW M6, aerodynamics also played a fundamental role. Thus, the HÚRRICANE RR has been equipped wîth a G-POWER carbon-fibre front skirt and a rear spoiler for greater aerodynamic downforce at high speed.

The G-POWER M6 HÚRRICANE RR maintains its contact to the road wîth 20-inch G-POWER SILVERSTONE CLÚBSPORT forged wheels clad in 255/35 ZR 20 and 285/30 ZR 20 rubber. Optimisation for performance was, of course, a priority in this department, too. Consequently, the all-new SILVERSTONE CLÚBSPORT forged alloy wheels, measuring 9.0 x 20 inches and 10.5 x 20 inches, are no heavier than the series-production wheels, despite their far greater dimensions.

Further contributors to the high-speed capability of the M6 HÚRRICANE RR are the G-POWER high-performance braking system and the G-POWER RS coil-over sports suspension, wîth 9-way adjustability for compression and rebound plus infinitely variable height adjustment.

The exclusive nature of this automobile is clearly indicated by a tachometer that measures up to 400 km/h, visible carbon-fibre panelling for the dashboard, centre console and door trim, as well as the ergonomically shaped G-POWER sports §teering wheel upholstered in perforated and highly tactile Kjerba Nappa leather.

The G-POWER M6 HÚRRICANE RR is available for order as a complete vehicle from G-POWER in Autenzell, Germany. The same G-POWER engine technology is also available in a 750 hp version for the current BMW M5 and M6. The G-POWER SK III RS bi-supercharger engine conversion wîth 750 hp / 551 kW is offered at a price of EÚR 56,000 (net plus assembly).

The BMW M6 was produced from 1983 through 1989. A second generation was introduced in 2004. The first generation sat atop a E24 chassis of the 6-Series and powered by a modified version of the BMW M1 engine. It was quick, aggressive, and well equipped. The US version of the engine produced nearly 260 horsepower and over 240 foot-pounds of torque. The European spec-engine did not have a catalyst and produced nearly 290 horsepower. Zero-to-sixty took only 6.4 seconds for the Euro version and 6.8 seconds for the US version. Road and Track hailed the M6 as one of the fastest cars in America for 1987.

Only 5,855 examples of the M6 were produced from 1983 through 1989 with 1,767 going to North America.

In 2005 BMW revived the M6 name. It made its debut at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show and was powered by a 5-liter V10 engine and an SMG III gearbox. The performance was impressive with over 500 BHP available. Zero-to-sixty was in the low four-second range.

This is a vehicle that one can quickly get addicted to. The fastest, quickest production vehicle that BMW has ever produced, the 2007 M6 features a 507 bhp normally aspirated 5.0-liter V10 7-speed sequential manual gearbox. Designed by the motorsport division of BMW, the M6 was the epitome of exceptional German styling that exudes all that this company stands for. A high-performance version of the 6-Series automobile, the M6 is well-loved for its luxurious and aggressive styling along with its opulent features.

BMW took the M88/3 (an updated version of the M88/1) from the M1 and placed it in the E24 chassis of the MBW 6-series. The end result was the M635CSi, or the M6 in North America. The E24 and M6 are easily distinguished by the M badges on the grille and rear, a spoiler and a larger air dam on the M6.

The U.S. M6 featured a catalyzed S38 motor that produced 256 hp and 243 ft/lb of torque. The European version produced 286 hp and 251 ft/lb of torque and did not need catalysts. The European M6 could achieve 0-60mph in 6.4 seconds, and 6.8 seconds for the American model. Road and Track featured the U.S. M6 as one of the 10 fastest vehicles in America in 1987.

A total of 5,855 M6 models were sold by the time production ended in 1989, 1,767 were produced in the U.S. and Canada.

At the 2005 Geneva Motor Show the brand new BMW M6 concept vehicle was unveiled to the public. This concept was based on the BMW E63/E64 6-Series that had been introduced in 2004. The E60 M5 shared the same 5.0 L V10 S85 engine and SMG III gearbox with the M6 and produced 507 hp and 384 lb/ft of torque. This newest M6 was capable of achieving 0-62 mph in just 4.6 seconds and had a top speed of 155 mph. The top speed 205 mph when the limiter was removed.

Featuring the same power button that modified throttle response as the M5, the M6 delivered 298 kW from ignition, but with the button the full 370 kW was reached. With a carbon fiber reinforced plastic roof panel, the M6 weighed approximately 3770 lbs and featured thermoplastic front wings, a compound boot lid and aluminum doors and hood. Strategically placing the lighter materials and the carbon fiber allowed the M6 to feature improved handling.

The Champion in Touring Car Racing : The BMW M3
In August 1985, a rumour surfaced in motor magazine Auto-Deutschland which emanated from a new sports car. Speculation about this dream car that could take to normal roads and was intended for the 'Most dynamic among BMW 3 Series drivers' was right on target.
