1930 Auburn Model 6-85

1930 was Auburn's first downturn since E.L. Cord's coming to Auburn in 1924. Sales were off 43 percent for the Auburn line compared to its 1929 sales.

This Auburn 6-85 Cabriolet represented the last of the six-cylinder Auburns to be built until 1934. Six-cylinder models were available in just four body styles, with the 6-85 available as a Cabriolet, Sport Sedan, Sedan, and as a special order for the U.S. touring car. The 1930 Auburns received very little change over the prior year and were basically carry-overs with some refinements. Included in those refinements for the sic-cylinder line were chromium plating and a shimmy-reducing radiator mounting.

The six-cylinder engine produced 70 horsepower and the 6-85 line rested on a 120-inch wheelbase. This Cabriolet weighs 3125 pounds and was the lightest of the company's offerings for the year.
