The Jaguar R1 Formula One car was used during the 2000 season and was the first Jaguar-badged car after Ford's purchased of the Stewart team the prior year. Power was from a Ford Cosworth V10 which was mated to a Jaguar 6-speed magnesium-cased semi-automatic gearbox.
Throughout the season, the R1 did not provide the anticipated results, though it did have a few exceptional moments. The car was reportedly hard to drive and it suffered from an unreliable gearbox.
The car was driven by Eddie Irving - the 1999 championship runner-up - Luciano Burti, and Johnny Herbert. Even with experienced drivers, the team was only able to secure 4 points which earned them a 9th in the World's Constructor Championship.

![]() | It had been more than thirty years but the Silver Arrows would compete, and win, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But each of these three manufacturers shared something in common. Even with the victories by Ford during the 1960s there was something very interesting about the list of victors in the 24 French enduro—none of them ...[Read more...] |

Ever since he began to race karts at the age of ten, Johnny Herb...[Read more...] |
