Sant'Agata Bolognese/Abu Dhabi, February 7, 2017.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East is preparing to inaugurate the 2017 season. This is the fourth one-make series for the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeos, which have already successfully participated in the other series Europe, Asia and North America. The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East is going to make its debut on the 5,554-meter Yas Marina circuit, in the United Arab Emirates. The circuit is already home to eight editions of the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix, where the first of the three double rounds of the Super Trofeo is scheduled on February 9-11.

The Middle East Series will make a real debut and will then get to the Dubai track only one week later (on February 16-18). The same track will also host the last round (March 2-4). The Super Trofeo Middle East is therefore an important addition to the rich international competitive scene, representing Lamborghini in an event that attracts the presence of the most renowned teams.

So far, eleven teams have responded to the call. They will have the opportunity to anticipate, by a couple of months, the beginning of their seasonal commitment to the three other continental series of the Super Trofeo. About twenty cars are expected to be fielded by the teams. Among these is Bonaldi Motorsport, a reference name in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, in which last year they won the team and the PRO-AM titles, with a crew formed by Adrian Amstutz and Patrick Kujala.

Then, there are Antonelli Motorsport, ARC Bratislava, FFF Racing Team by ACM, GDL Racing, GT3 Poland, Konrad Motorsport, Orange 1 Team Lazarus, Leipert Motorsport and Petri Corse. For most of them, the involvement in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East is an addition to the participation in the most important GT3 championships as well as in the various continental series and will act as a major test for a 2017 season on various fronts.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East will have the usual format with two fifty-minute races, each of which with a rolling start, a mandatory pit-stop and the starting grid will be determined by two 20-minute qualifying sessions taking place on Friday. Race 1 is scheduled on the same day at nighttime; it will kick off at 7:00 p.m. local time (4:00 p.m. CET). Race 2 will instead start on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. (1:15 p.m. CET). There will also be two free practice sessions of one hour each on Thursday, the second of which will take place at nighttime to enable drivers and teams to become familiar with this unusual condition.
