The Kia Cee'd gas-electric hybrid was first shown at the Paris Motor Show. The Cee'd is already available in coupe, 5-door hatch, and sportwagon variants. The hybrid version will be based on the five-door and will be Kia's first true hybrid vehicle. The Cee'd Hybrid features Kia's gamma 1.6-liter gasoline engine mated to a 15kw, 105 Nm AC synchronized electric motor, a Kia CVT (continuously variable transmission), and Kia's new ISG (Idle Stop & Go) system.
The electric motor generates 105 NM of torque from just 1500 RPM and the Li-Poly 180 volt, 5.3 Ah power pack is located at the side of the trunk. Kia estimates the cee'd Hybrid could accelerate from 0-to-100 KPH in 11.8 seconds with a top speed of 185 kph. The prototype example achieves fuel consumption of 4.81 liters per 100 km and a CO2 figure of 114 g/km.
