For 1963, the Starfire was available as either a two-door Holiday Hardtop or a convertible. Pricing for the hardtop was $4,130 while the convertible was priced at $4,750. A total of 25,890 examples were produced between the two body styles, 4,401 of which were convertibles.

View info and historyPowering the Starfire was an overhead valve 394 cubic-inch V8 that was rated at 345 horsepower. It came standard with a Hydra-Matic gearbox. They had all the items from the Super Eight-Eight Series plus the addition of special moldings and trim. In the back were dual exhausts. Other features included power steering, special wheel covers, 8.00 x 14-inch tires, power brakes, electric clock, and courtesy lights.The Starfire was part of the Oldsmobile line from 1960 through 1966, and then from 1974 through 1980. It had been used from 1954 through 1956 to represent Ninety-Eight series convertibles. For 1957 only, all Ninety-Eight series models were designated 'Starfire 98.'When the Starfire arrived in 1961 it was offered exclusively as a convertible and would remain the highest-priced model offered by Oldsmobile through 1965. It had a similar design to the other Oldsmobile full-size models, with unique trim, more luxurious interiors, and additional standard features.
Holiday HardtopThe Starfire Coupe hardtop was added to the lineup in 1962 and for the final 1966 model year, the convertible was dropped and the Starfire moved downmarket. When the Starfire returned nine years later, it was part of Oldsmobile's first subcompact line and was equipped with a Buick V6 engine. The 1977 Starfire came with Oldsmobile's first-ever four-cylinder engine as standard, with a V6 and V8 optional. The use of the Starfire name officially ended in 1980.
