1973 Imperial LeBaron news, pictures, and information

Hardtop

The Imperial was designed by Virgil Exner and hailed by Chrysler as 'The Finest Car America Has Yet Produced.' A very bold statement considering some of the masterpieces produced from Packard, Cadillac, and countless others. This was Chryslers first vehicle to have a wraparound windshield.

There were 16,729 examples of the Imperial produced in 1973. There were very few changes over the prior year. The largest visual improvement was a new mesh-pattern grille along with front bumper guards. Power was from an overhead valve V-8 that displaced 440 cubic-inches and produced 215 horsepower. There were two body styles available, a four-door sedan and a 2-door version. 14,166 examples of the four-door hardtop were purchased.
