1994 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

For 1994, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class was given a new model designation along with several exterior modifications. The front end was new, as was the trunk lid. Mercedes-Benz dropped the 4Matic models, as the company believed their traction control system was sufficient to handle slippery surfaces.

The E-Class was available as a sedan, station wagon, coupe or convertible. Several engines were available, including a dual-overhead-cam six, a turbo-diesel six, and an overhead cam V-8 that was rated at 275 horsepower.

Sales were rather strong, especially for the E320 Sedan which saw 16,301 examples sold. In total, there were 27,911 examples of the E-Type sold in the United States in 1994. Pricing for the E-Type ranged from $40,000 - $81,000. The most expensive E-Type was the E500 sedan which shared its V8 engine with the S420 model.

Sold for $11,000 at 2014 Mecum - Monterey.
This is a W124-bodied E-Class convertible finished from the factory in optional Brilliant Emerald Pearl. These cars were mostly handbuilt on a bespoke assembly line and cost over $77,000 when they were new. Just 1,698 were sold in the US for 1994, the second of three years the model was produced.

This car was sold new at Phil Smart Mercedes-Benz in downtown Seattle, WA, and has remained in the greater Seattle area its entire life. It is equipped with the optional Mercedes-Benz (analogue) cellular telephone, rear windstop, and it remains all stock and original down to the factory Becker cassette radio.

Currently, it has 76,000 miles on the odometer. It has its original tools, jack, and spare wheel.
