Stewart campaigned the car in the famed 'Little 500' in Anderson, IN, at the Oswego Classic in upstate New York, at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds, and most often at Berlin Raceway where, in 1968, a rear end collision wîth the retaining wall ignited his fuel tank and caused severe burn injuries. That accident helped accelerate the movement away from the open cockpit, open wheel Sprint Car toward today's more common-appearing short-track stock car - a transition that Stewart also made after his mishap at Berlin.Source - Gilmore Car Museum
