Bernard Perroy drove for Duqueine (in the VG3) during the 1979 season, but after a dispute, the two parted companies. Together with another driver, Denis Olivera, the duo rebuilt the VG3 as the Oliroy C1. The name 'Oliroy' was formed from OLIveira and PerROY.
The C1 was powered by a Toyota engine and clothed in Martini bodywork. With little time to properly test the car, the C1 surprising showed tremendous promise. The best finish was a second place finish at Le Mans Bugatti circuit in October of 1980. During the 1980 French F3 Championships, with a string of top ten finishes, Olivera finished in 9th place.
