1911 Fiat Tipo 6 news, pictures, and information

In 1900, the first Fiat factory opened in Turin, Italy, and the company built 24 cars in that first year. By 1904, Fiats were making a name for themselves in races in Europe and the United States. This six-cylinder Fiat Tipo 6 was ordered new from the Hol-Tan Automobile Company of New York by the race driver William Wallace, who drove it in the Eagle Rock Hill Climb and two Vanderbilt Cup races. Its second owner, in the 940s, was W. Wilson Bump, president of American Airlines.

In the early 1900's, at the dawn of the automotive motorsport age, one of the most significant race venues was the Prinz Heinrich Tour, named after Prince Albert Wilhelm Heinrich of Prussia, automotive enthusiast and brother of German Emperor Wilhelm II.
