2013 Audi A5

2013 Audi A5
Audi A5 and S5 are where all the strengths of Audi — vehicle design, engineering, performance and appointments — come together in an unparalleled statement about the vibrancy of the brand and the appeal of driving an Audi.2013 Audi A5
The entire model line — A5 and S5 cabriolet and coupe models — sport refinements for 2013 in beauty, power and efficiency that make the lineup more distinctive than ever. They bring the kind of personal enjoyment that is the ultimate reward for drivers who enjoy the journey and not just the destination.

2013 Audi A5
Changes for the 2013 MY include new front fascia, bumper and headlamp design, the
introduction of the award-winning 3.0T V6 in the S5 coupe and the inclusion of Audi connect as well as some thoughtful interior design enhancements.

2013 Audi A5Performance
Audi A5 and S5 set new standards for sportiness and efficiency in the mid-size segment of thepremium market. The output of the 2.0-liter TFSI engine remains unchanged at 211 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. New to the Audi S5 coupe is the 3.0-liter V6 TFSI engine that produces 333 hp. The 3.0T engine delivers a 0 to 60 time of 4.9 seconds, which is as fast as the previous 4.2 liter V8 but is more fuel efficient.

The A5 and S5 Coupe models are offered exclusively with quattro all wheel drive and are mated to a six-speed manual transmission, or an eight-speed Tiptronic on the A5, or a seven-speed S tronic on the S5. The A5 Cabriolet comes standard with a continuously variable multitronic transmission and front-wheel drive or optional quattro with an eight-speed Tiptronic. The S5 Cabriolet is offered exclusively with quattro and a seven-speed S tronic gearbox.

A5 and S5 now feature an electromechanical power steering unit, which reacts instantly and provides precise feedback from the road. The steering system also assists the driver when braking on an asymmetrical surface.

Exterior
The 2013 A5 and S5 both receive updated Audi Singleframe grilles with angled upper corners. A new front bumper features pronounced air inlets with massive struts, revamped grilles, splitter and flat fog lights. Redesigned headlamps are more dynamic and feature a new LED lighting design with xenon-plus lamps. Redesigned LED taillights also are available.

In the A5 Cabriolet, a fully automatic acoustic soft top can be operated at speeds up to 31 mph, and its thermal insulation makes it fully suitable for winter use. The thick roof fabric and joining technique between the hood and outer fabric provide superior interior acoustics and exterior sound damping while maintaining the roofline of the car and minimal intrusion on cargo space.

In addition, thanks to advancements in Audi lighting technology, the folding soft top even has two LED interior lamps built in for the rear passengers.

Interior
The interior of A5 and S5 for 2013 represent an ever-higher standard being set by Audi for expressiveness and comfort matched by the brand's trademark fit and finish.

2013 Audi A5Audi has revised the instrument cluster to utilize more of the speedometer range in Ú.S. driving conditions. A new optional three-spoke steering wheel, which comes with a performance-minded flat bottom on the S5, also is available.

A new selection of upholstery fabrics offers options including perforated Milano and Fine Nappa leather. Meanwhile, new inlays offer meticulously crafted Layered Oak inlays that are fabricated from thinly cut, laminated sheets of fine Oak and mounted onto an aluminum backing to avoid breakage and splintering in crash situations. A variety of interior colors also have been added to the palette, and a black headliner option has been added as part of the Chestnut Brown interior
selection on the A5 Coupe.

Driver assistance
The 2013 Audi A5 and S5 incorporate many features that are designed to help make the driving experience more enjoyable and to give drivers greater confidence. Audi parking system plus includes a rearview camera and an acoustic warning system that help drivers enter or exit safely from parking spots.

Audi adaptive cruise control, Audi side assist and dynamic steering are optional features that offer industry-leading driver assistance capabilities. Adaptive cruise control helps regulate the distance between the driver of an A5 or S5 and traffic ahead of it, and it even initiates emergency braking at speeds below 19 mph while providing the driver with complete autonomy. Dynamic steering automatically adjusts steering input and effort required in relation to how fast the vehicle is traveling, thereby making steering more direct at higher speeds and effortless when parking.

Side assist utilizes sensors to notify drivers of other vehicles occupying or moving into their blind spots. The system warning lights incorporated into the side view mirrors on the A5 flash when a vehicle is in or is about to enter the lane next to the A5.

Audi connect
Audi connect enables first-to-market Google Earth integration, which redefines the navigation experience. The realistic, panoramic views and high-resolution 3D satellite and aerial imagery provide drivers with a better navigation experience. Audi connect with Google Earth also improves visual orientation with a 'camera zoom' feature that allows closer views of surroundings or destinations. Added to the high resolution of Google Earth imagery is an overlay of street mapping data provided through Audi MMI Navigation plus and real-time traffic information available via SiriusXM™ Traffic subscription (four year subscription now standard).
Audi connect also provides an industry-first factory vehicle integration of Wi-Fi® service. This unprecedented mobile hot spot capability for passengers allows connections for up to eight Wi-Fi devices and permits passengers to connect to the Internet to read email, surf the Web, stream music, gaming, etc. The Google™ Voice Local Search also is a first as part of Audi connect to enable more intuitive requests for points of interest as well as provide access for up-to-date information (coupe only). Other features include real-time information, such as weather, fuel prices and streaming news feeds.

The A5 continues to exude sophisticated dynamic design and benefits from a variety of interio updates as well as technology improvements such as Audi connect. The S5 Coupe defines progressive performance with the inclusion of the 3.0T V6. Together with the Cabriolet models, the A5 model line will continue to attract new customers and bring existing customer back for years to come.

The Audi A5 Sportback, the Audi A5 Coupé and the A5 Cabriolet

2013 Audi A5Its appearance alone makes the Audi A5 Sportback an Audi masterpiece, with its flowing silhouette, the sharp lines and the muscular surfaces making a powerful statement. The product refresh a few months ago included new and distinctive accents for the elegant five-door.2013 Audi A5
•Design and interior
The new headlights resemble a wedge. The LED daytime running lights of the optional xenon plus headlights constitute a narrow brace; Audi offers its adaptive light system as an option. The tail lights have also been modified. The body impresses with high rigidity, outstanding crash safety, refined vibrational comfort and low weight.

2013 Audi A5
New materials and colors make the interior of the A5 Sportback even more elegant than ever, and the controls have become even more intuitive. Optional sport seats or deluxe climate-controlled seats with active ventilation are available for the driver and front passenger, and there is a choice of three seats for the back. The luggage compartment under the long hatch holds between 480 and 1,283 liters (16.95 and 45.31 cu ft).

2013 Audi A5Engines
All engines in the Audi A5 Sportback feature forced induction and direct injection, and all come standard with the start-stop system. The lineup comprises three gasoline engines and five TDI units. Their fuel consumption has been reduced by as much as 18 percent, yet performance has increased in many cases.

Even the entry-level engine, the 1.8 TFSI, produces 125 kW (170 hp). The high-efficiency four-cylinder is a high-tech engine. Topping the engine lineup is the 3.0 TDI, a supercharged V6 with 200 kW (272 hp). The TDI units also offer impressive efficiency.

Engine lineup:
•1.8 TFSI with 125 kW (170 PS)
•2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TFSI quattro with 155 kW (211 hp)
•3.0 TFSI quattro with 200 kW (272 hp)
•2.0 TDI with 105 kW (143 hp)
•2.0 TDI and 2.0 TDI quattro with 130 kW (177 hp)
•3.0 TDI with 150 kW (204 hp)
•3.0 TDI quattro with 180 kW (245 hp)
•3.0 TDI clean diesel quattro with 180 kW (245 hp)

Audi offers the ideal power transmission for each engine – the six-speed manual, the continuously variable multitronic, and the seven-speed S tronic. quattro permanent all-wheel drive is available either as standard or as an option with the four most powerful engines and the 2.0 TDI with 130 kW (177 hp). Torque vectoring makes handling even more precise. The 3.0 TDI quattro and the 3.0 TFSI quattro can be equipped additionally with the sport differential.

Chassis
The five-link front suspension and the trapezoidal-link rear suspension of the A5 Sportback consist largely of aluminum. The arrangement of the rear trailing arms and the shock-absorber tuning have been revised. Not only the precision but also the ease of handling are better than ever.

The new electromechanical power steering contributes to the car's overall efficiency by reducing fuel consumption by as much as 0.3 l/100 km. All front-wheel-drive versions of the A5 feature electronic stabilization control (ESC) with electronic limited slip differential.

The optional Audi drive select system with its selectable characteristics makes the driving experience even more attractive. Besides the power steering, engine management and automatic air conditioning system, it optionally integrates the sport differential, dynamic steering and chassis with damper control modules.

2013 Audi A5Equipment and trim
The driver information system with rest recommendation is standard in the A5 Sportback. It detects if the driver is getting tired and issues an appropriate warning. Options include Audi side assist and the updated modules Audi active lane assist and adaptive cruise control. The latter uses radar to keep the five-door model at a constant interval to the vehicle ahead. If the threat of a rear-end collision becomes imminent at speeds below 30 km/h (18.64 mph), this system will perform a full brake application.

The infotainment systems in the A5 Sportback have also been significantly upgraded. The optional top unit is the MMI navigation plus, which can be combined with the Bluetooth car phone online. Únder the name Audi connect, the latter delivers attractive online services to the car and connects up to eight of the passengers' mobile devices to the Internet via WLAN.

The Audi A5 Coupé
The Audi A5 Coupé with its enticingly elegant lines is already a modern classic: Audi received the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany for it in 2010. The two-door model also is a very capable everyday vehicle featuring a power tailgate and split folding rear seats. Thanks to the lightweight steel body with aluminum front fenders, the curb weight of the base model is just 1,425 kilograms (3,141.59 lb).

The A5 Coupé received the same updates as the A5 Sportback as part of the product improvement. Its eight available engines cover a range between 105 kW (143 hp) and 200 kW (272 hp). The compact, high-tech 1.8 TFSI gasoline unit is particularly attractive with its average fuel consumption of just 5.7 liters per 100 km (41.27 ÚS mpg).

Engine lineup:
•1.8 TFSI with 125 kW (170 PS)
•2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TFSI quattro with 155 kW (211 hp)
•3.0 TFSI quattro with 200 kW (272 hp)
•2.0 TDI with 105 kW (143 hp)
•2.0 TDI and 2.0 TDI quattro with 130 kW (177 hp)
•3.0 TDI with 150 kW (204 hp)
•3.0 TDI quattro with 180 kW (245 hp)
•3.0 TDI clean diesel quattro with 180 kW (245 hp)

Depending on the engine, available drivetrains include the six-speed manual, the multitronic and the seven-speed S tronic. The quattro lineup includes all of the engines starting with the 2.0 TDI with 130 kW (177 hp) except for the 3.0 TDI with 150 kW (204). The sport differential is available as an option with the most powerful diesel and gasoline engines. Chassis options include dynamic steering and damper control. The standard electromechanical power steering reduces fuel consumption.

The range of standard and optional equipment largely corresponds to that for the Audi A5 Sportback. This also applies to the driver assistance systems, infotainment and Audi connect services.

The Audi A5 Cabriolet
Sporty, comfortable and stunning – the A5 Cabriolet is the open-top four-seater from Audi. Like its sister models, it is noble and mature following its refresh.

Like every open-top Audi, the A5 Cabriolet has a classic fabric top. It opens and closes fully automatically in a good 15 seconds. An acoustic top is available as an option. When opened, the top folds up into a small package that leaves 320 liters (11.30 cu ft) of luggage capacity in the trunk (380 liters (13.42 cu ft) when closed). The folding rear seat backs and the load-through hatch expand luggage capacity to 750 liters (26.49 cu ft).

A wind deflector and automatic belt feeds for the front seats round out the comfortable character of the A5 Cabriolet; head-level heating is available as an option. A special coating for the likewise optional leather seats prevents their surfaces from heating up too much in the sun. The surface of the windshield frame is anodized aluminum.

Reinforcing elements integrated into the body of the open-top four-seater compensate for the lack of a hard roof. Head-thorax-side airbags and aluminum plates that deploy automatically as roll-over protection stand at the ready in the event of a crash. The Audi A5 Cabriolet strongly resembles the Sportback and the Coupé with respect to the chassis, ergonomics and equipment. The same applies for the drivetrain lineup, which includes front-wheel and quattro all-wheel drive, the manual transmission, multitronic and S tronic.

Engine lineup:
•1.8 TFSI with 125 kW (170 PS)
•2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TFSI quattro with 155 kW (211 hp)
•3.0 TFSI quattro with 200 kW (272 hp)
•2.0 TDI with 105 kW (143 hp)
•2.0 TDI and 2.0 TDI quattro with 130 kW (177 hp)
•3.0 TDI with 150 kW (204 hp)
•3.0 TDI quattro with 180 kW (245 hp)

The equipment, data and prices specified in this document refer to the model range offered in Germany. Subject to change without notice; errors and omissions excepted.

Audi A3, A5 and Q7 Selected by IntelliChoice and AutoPacific as Winners in the 2012 Motorist Choice Awards

• Audi A3 awarded the Premium Cosmopolitan vehicle; Audi A5 awarded the Premium Head Turner vehicle; Audi Q7 awarded the Premium Kid Friendly vehicle

Three Audi vehicles earned awards from the 2012 Motorist Choice Awards, presented by automotive industry research companies IntelliChoice and AutoPacific. The awards are designed to recognize those vehicles that reflect the awareness of the consumer and exemplify the results of practical analysis, such as total cost of ownership, resale value and fuel economy.

'It's a tremendous honor to have Audi recognized as the winner in three separate categories for the 2012 Motorist Choice Awards,' said Scott Keogh, president, Audi of America. 'These awards underscore Audi's unwavering focus on developing premium vehicles that are intelligent in design, progressive in technology, and unparalleled in performance.'

The Audi A3 exudes a sporty, athletic style with short front and rear overhangs, while maintaining its Audi DNA that features a steeply raked windshield, forward-leaning roofline, signature Audi Singleframe® grille and available Open Sky panoramic roof. The A3 is available in two powertrain choices: the 2.0 TDI clean diesel or 2.0TFSI®. Both provide impressive power at 140 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque for the TDI®, and 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque for the TFSI. Audi A3 fuel economy is admirable, particularly in the TDI with an EPA estimated 30 mpg city, 42 mpg highway and 34 mpg combined.

The only car in its class to offer quattro® all-wheel drive, the Audi A5 is progressive engineering marvel. The award-winning 2.0 TFSI engine provides 211 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque and combines Audi valvelift system, variable valve timing and TFSI direct injection. Design refinements give the A5 model-line athletic elegance, most noticeably with the available unmistakable Audi xenon plus lighting with LED daytime running lights and tail lamps. Available convenience technologies, such as Audi MMI Navigation plus and Audi music interface, add pure enjoyment to the driving experience. Entertainment is provided by an Audi six-channel stereo system with ten speakers, or an available Bang & Olufsen® 505 – watt, 14 speaker sound system.

The seven-passenger Audi Q7 exceeds driver and passenger expectations for functionality and comfort. Drivers of the Q7 have the option of a gasoline turbocharged, fuel-injected 3.0 liter TFSI engine, or a fuel efficient, yet powerful, V6 turbocharged direct injection TDI clean diesel engine. With an ESP estimated fuel economy of 17 mpg city / 25 mpg highway the Q7 provides a range of more than 600 miles on a full tank holding 26.4 gallons of fuel. (concept carz) The car also features the most advanced Audi technology available, including Audi connect™ with a rolling Wi-Fi® Hotspot for up to eight devices and Google Voice Local Search. The Audi music interface with iPod®/iPhone® connectivity ensures a user friendly experience through the Audi MMI system. A luxurious premium interior includes adjustable rear middle seats, foldable seats in the third row, and available panoramic roof. Airbags including Sideguard® head curtain airbags for all three rows of seats ensures passenger safety.

The awards reflect the studies conducted by AutoPacific and IntelliChoice. For AutoPacific, interviews are conducted to over 75,000 automotive owners who have recently purchased a 2012 vehicle and cover 48 key attributes of the complete ownership experience. IntelliChoice monitors the cost of ownership figures of more than 1,800 model trim lines in order to provide the cost of ownership over five years. Combining the two allows to provide a superior means of evaluating 'Best in Class' vehicles that align consumer shopping patterns with probability for both satisfaction and value.
