The return of the iconic Audi allroad combines unmatched all-weather capabilities wîth the driving dynamics and style that are unique to Audi. The allroad is powered by the 2.0 TFSI turbocharged and direct-injected, four-cylinder engine that delivers 211 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque and is paired wîth a fuel efficient eight-speed automatic transmission. The allroad utilizes a new electromechanical §teering system that saves weight and improves fuel economy – part of the Audi ultra philosophy of optimizing materials while at the same time improving performance.

The allroad is at home on today's urban roads and gravel driveways alike, and a reprogrammed Electronic Stability Control assists drivers of the allroad through inclement weather as well as all kinds of other driving conditions.

The Audi allroad features a unique, Singleframe® grille design wîth vertical chrome struts and angled upper corners, stainless steel skid plates and side sills, contrasting body trim and alu-optic aluminum raised roof rails. Matte-finished lower bumpers and wheel arches that signify the vehicle's utility credentials are standard, while a full paint finish is available in Glacier White, Ice Silver and Phantom Black.
The car also expresses the new Audi design theme of sleek headlights, and in versions equipped wîth xenon-plus lamps, allroad offers the brand's signature new LED lighting design. Circular fog lights finish off the front of allroad, and circular dual-exhaust openings polish up the rear. The exterior dimensions demonstrate that the allroad can handle serious demands from the weather and other unexpected circumstances, on the road or away from it. It is 0.5 inches wider and has 1.5 inches more ground clearance than its cousin the A4 Avant. With a full 7.1 inches of ground clearance, the allroad is designed to meet the outdoor lifestyle needs of its customers.
The vehicle also boasts a taller profile and 18-inch wheels standard (with 19-inch wheels optional) to ensure comfort even over rough ground. 2013 AUDI ALLROAD WINS ACTIVE LIFESTYLE VEHICLE OF THE YEAR AWARD IN LUXURY ON-ROAD CATEGORY
Ninth annual ALV awards are judged by athletes and media reviewing 28 finalists in seven categoriesThe 2013 Audi allroad won the Ninth Annual Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year award against five other finalists in the Luxury On-Road Vehicle category.
The Active Lifestyle of the Year Award (Twitter: #ALVfinals) is organized by Carspondent.com and stands as the only competition of its kind in the Ú.S. to combine the opinions of automotive journalists and elite athletes. This year's allroad win follows a successful result in 2011 when the Audi A7 also won the ALV Luxury On-Road Vehicle category and the Audi Q7 TDI topped all rivals in the Family Vehicle classification. The allroad was the only model Audi entered in this year's competition.
Overall, 28 finalist vehicles were vying for recognition in the awards program. The competition, held on the campus of Local Motors in Chandler, Ariz., involved seven categories wîth each grouping of finalists assessed by juries made up of journalists, and 70 athletes who participate in sports including cycling, triathlon, kayaking, softball, running. The juries assessed the cars in each category on overall design, engine power, fuel efficiency and cargo capability. The goal of the jurors is to reward cars best suited for the needs of a sports lifestyle, such as stowing bicycles, kayaks or golf clubs.
'While most Car of the Year competitions focus on various aspects of vehicle performance, we are more concerned wîth how well the vehicle helps to enhance our performance as athletes,' explained Nina Russin, co-founder of the ALV awards. 'We evaluate how easy it is to load bicycles into the cargo area, or to clean the upholstery after an especially muddy trail run. We want to know if a sport-utility vehicle designed to go off-road can ford water, and if it can maintain directional control when one or more wheels is off the ground.
'Additionally, this program provides a good way for automakers to have constructive feedback from consumers living an active lifestyle.'
