1961 Alsbury Special

The Alsbury Racing special is a variation of the low-production, rear-engined Jabro Kit car. James Broadwell was the founder of Jabro and Ed Alsbury was his partner. The Alsbury Special was originally fitted with a 2-stroke SAAB engine and did rather well in competition, winning the MidWest Region SCCA Championship and racing at the ARRC Finals in Daytona in 1967 where it was driven by Dick Durant.

Later in the car's life, the car was given a 1098cc BMW 'A' engine which still powers the car in modern times.

Until recently, the car was thought to have been the one-off car called the Dubury.
