Other Marques Set To Give Jaguars A Run For Their Money At Kempton Park

As well as an impressive line-up of 'big cats', Barons' Jaguar Heritage, Classic and Sports Cars sale at Kempton Park on Saturday 16th September features a wide range of other marques, giving the sale an even wider appeal.

The 1948 Lanchester LD10 Drop Head by Abbott is one of just two examples ever built. Presented in near-concours condition, this extremely rare machine is ready for a collector or museum to purchase, and carries an estimate of £22,00-£27,000.

Iconic 1970s Pininfarina design can be found in the 1972 Fiat 130 Coupé, which has covered just 22,000km in 45 years (estimate: £12,000-£14,000), while yet more 1970s Italian style can also be found in the 1971 Lancia Flavia 2000 Coupé (10,000-£12,000). The 1969 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 1600, in ultra-rare Azzurro Blue, is another lovely example of the beauties of Italian design (estimate £11,000-£13,000).

The 1963 VW Type 2 Split Screen Camper van is simply superb. Originally owned by the German Fire Brigade, it has won 'Best in Class' at several classic car shows and comes complete with huge collection of extras, including spare wheels and tyres, a custom-made red and white awning, and a front apron to protect against stone chips. Estimate: £30,000-£36,000.

One jaunty lot is the 1968 Subaru 360. In the 1960s these cars were advertised in the United States as 'Cheap and Ugly', but the charismatic little machines, powered by an air-cooled, 2-stroke inline 2-cylinder 356 cc engine mounted transversely at the rear, have a strong fan base amongst classic car buffs. Estimate: £14,000-£16,000.

Luxury motoring comes in the form of the magnificent 2007 Bentley Continental GTC which features a host of options including 20' 7-spoke alloy wheels, power boot opening and closing, full leather interior, 4 spoke piano magnolia steering wheel, and chrome mesh lower grilles. Estimate: £35,000-£41,000.

The sale also features a fine range of Mercedes-Benz, including an eye-catching avocado green 1973 230.4 (£6,000-£9,000) and a very attractive 1985 280SL, a one-owner car with just 33,000 miles on the clock (£20,000-£25,000).

A recent consignment to the Jaguar element of the sale is the 1965 E-type S1 FHC. This particular big cat is looking for a loving home, as it's in need of complete restoration. At £24,000-£29,000 it offers the new owner a hugely rewarding project.
