1987 BMW 635CSi

The BMW 6-Series was introduced in August of 1976 and served as the successor to the (E9) 3.0 CS/CSi high performance sports coupe. It was a modified version of the (E12) 5-Series salon platform and fitted with all-around independent suspension with coil and wishbones at the front and trailing-arms at the rear. Large and powerful disc brakes were also located at all four corners. In the front was a distinctive 'shark nose' frontal styling. It had thin pillared glasshouse windows which provided safety and nearly unobstructed views.

The E24 6 Series was in production from 1976 through 1989. Like the E9 coupes, the early bodies of the 6 were manufactured by Karmann until production was moved in-house by BMW.

Powering the 1987 BMW 635CSi was an overhead-cam six-cylinder engine that had Electronic (port) fuel injection and offered just over 180 horsepower. Power was sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission with overdrive. A three-speed automatic was available as optional equipment. Pricing for the 635CSi began at nearly $47,000 for the 2-door, 4 passenger coupe.
