1974 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight

The 1974 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight continued to be a popular choice, with over 70,000 examples sold, accounting for about 8-percent of the company's overall production. This was Oldsmobile's longest running series, dating back to before World War II. Five body styles were available including a coupe, Regency Coupe and Regency, and Sedan and Luxury sedan. The Regency Coupe was a new addition to the lineup.

A deflectable stand-up hood ornament was used on Ninety-Eight series models in 1974.

The Ninety-Eight came standard with power brakes, cigarette lighter, lamp package, molding package, remote control outside mirror, Deluxe steering wheel, spare tire cover, interior hood release, electric clock, spare power windows, power seat, windshield radio antenna, and Turbo-Hydramatic transmission. The interior was vinyl, cloth or leather. Options included high energy ignition, pulse wipers and Temp-matic air conditioning. An engine block heater option was offered for cold climates at a cost of $10.

Pricing began at $4,930 for the sedan and rose to $5,500 for the Regency Sedan. The most popular body style was the Regency Sedan which found 24,310 buyers.
