1934 Mercedes-Benz 170

The Mercedes-Benz 170 production car was introduced in 1931 at the Paris Salon. They were compact and fairly economical while maintaining the company's traditional high standard and craftsmanship. Production of the Type 170 W15 continued through 1936 and was built in a variety of body styles, including two- and four-door sedans, a roadster, and Cabriolets in both A, B, and C forms.

The Model 170 brought four-wheel independent suspension to Mercedes-Benz. The rear setup was coil-spring and swing-axle setup, while the independent front suspension was by upper and lower transverse leaf springs. Brakes were hydraulic drums front and rear; the handbrake operated mechanically on the rear wheels.
