1948 Tucker Custom

There were 51 original Tucker automobiles built by Preston Tucker back in the 1940s. Mr. Tucker's forward-thinking automobile was designed for performance and for safety.

With so few examples produced, purchasing an original is both expensive and difficult. So, Ida Automotive decided to build its own custom version of the Tucker. Using the original Tucker blueprints borrowed from John Tucker Jr., and Tucker No. 51 for measuring, the company began a nearly two-year project to re-create the Tucker body in fiberglass. It featured a modern drivetrain and chassis and the first example created was given to Joe Ida. A second example was built and sent to a museum in Japan. The third example was dubbed 'Lower '48.'
