1979 Pontiac LeMans

The mid-sized 1979 Pontiac LeMans was available as a coupe and sedan, a LeMans Safari Station Wagon, a Grand LeMans Safari Wagon, and a Grand LeMans coupe and sedan. Pricing ranged from $4,600 for the base coupe and rose to over $5,500 for the Grand LeMans Safari Wagon. It was similar to the prior year with modifications to the grille, now having more holes and a 6 x 4 pattern. The prior year's three amber side marker lenses were now split into four sections.

The base engine was a 231 cubic-inch V6 mated to a three-speed manual shift. Several options were available including a 301 cubic-inch V8 in either two or four-barrel carburetor configuration. A 305 CID four-barrel V8 could also be purchased for an additional fee. The Safari wagons were fitted with a 5.0-liter V8.

Standard equipment included hubcaps, wheel opening moldings, glass-belted radial tires, and body-color bumpers with rub strips.

The Grand LeMans trim level added a hood ornament and windsplit molding, brushed aluminum center pillar, door panel pull straps and lower bodyside moldings.
