For 1990, around 6,419 examples of the Toyota Supra was exported to North America. Model year changes included larger protective laminate in front of rear wheels, redesigned steering wheel with cruise control moved to a stalk on the right side, and the memory lever on the steering column was removed. An airbag and airbag indicator light was added to the dash. The left side switch panel was redesigned, replacing one of the coin slots with the dimmer. The lower dash panel was now a two piece design. Sales of the N.A. Supra had fallen, from over 33,000 examples in 1986, to 14,544 in 1989. 1990 ad 1991 continued this downward trend, and in 1992 just 1,193 examples were exported to North America. A new, redesigned Supra was introduced in 1993 and would remain in production until 2002.
