THE FINEST CARRERA MODELS AND RARITIES FROM ITALY TO FEATURE PROMINENTLY AT BONHAMS SCOTTSDALE AUCTIONImpressive line-up of German and Italian sports cars headlines January sale in Arizona; Select consignments still sought

Bonhams' fifth annual Scottsdale auction will feature, among many exciting automobiles, an incredible selection of sports and sports racing cars, particularly from Germany and Italy.

From Germany is an extremely strong Porsche line-up with the finest Carrera models represented, including Turbos, Targas, Carbriolets and Speedsters. Two particular highlights include a 1962 Porsche 356 Carrera 2 GS Coupe and 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS. The first, the 356 Carrera, was the top-of-the-line model from Porsche in its day and has been restored to stunning, concours-winning condition. As one of very few with an original factory sunroof, it is both exhilarating and rare. The latter Carrera, the 911, is a matching numbers example that has been superbly restored to its factory livery. As an undisputed benchmark in the lineage of Porsche, few cars of the era rival the 2.7 RS.

Also from Germany is Munich's answer to Stuttgart's road-going racers – a 1973 BMW 3.0 CSL 'Batmobile.' Fast, uncommon and utterly distinctive, this is an excellent matching numbers, low mileage example of the iconic model that provided Bavaria with multiple racing trophies.

Another Teutonic marvel that deserves mention is a 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster. As the final iteration of this legendary sports car, Bonhams' example has the desirable alloy engine block and four-wheel disk brake system, and is fully documented with matching numbers.

From Italy is a fabulous selection of thrilling sports cars representing Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Lamborghini and Maserati, among others.

Leading the list of highlights is a rare and incredibly beautiful 1953 FIAT 8V Zagato Elaborata. One of just five made, it boasts early racing history and has been freshly restored by the finest artisans. In addition to its pedigree, rarity, performance and good looks, it's also eligible for all the great historic events, like the Mille Miglia.

Another highlight car is the Ferrari Daytona. Increasingly sought after by connoisseurs the world over, Bonhams will be offering a superior example in the form of a 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta. Complete with an award-winning restoration and Ferrari Classiche certification, this is the last classic era, front-engine V12 Prancing Horse, and the attention it's receiving is more than appropriate.
