The 'Picasso of NASCAR' Joins The Elegance at Hershey

Company press release.

Noted NASCAR Artist Sam Bass is Welcomed as a Special VIP Guest at this Year's Elegance

HERSHEY, PA - Sam Bass is the first Officially Licensed Artist of NASCAR and he has been called 'the Picasso of NASCAR' by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Elegance Board Member Joannie Rich stated, 'What great news that Sam will be joining us this year at The Elegance. This will be a truly awesome experience for all of us!'

From his very first NASCAR race in Richmond, VA, at the age of 7, this Hopewell, VA, native has been spellbound by the thrill and excitement of stock car racing ever since. After launching his career in 1981, Sam Bass has never lost sight of this enthusiasm and has been at the heart of NASCAR ever since, marking his place in history as the first Officially Licensed Artist of NASCAR.

Eager to apply his artistic talents to the sport that captivated him from his very first green flag, Sam hit the ground running, developing a career that he could only have dreamed of. Thirty-three years later, his raw talent and knowledge of the sport has developed into an internationally-recognized career. He is best known for his fine art paintings and illustrations which capture drivers along their career milestones, his creative race car paint schemes for many of NASCAR's top teams, his original-designed custom trophy guitars presented as awards and played by chart-topping artists in country and rock, and for continuing to truly ignite the fire for racing in NASCAR fans worldwide.

While Sam may be recognized by millions for his many accomplishments, it is undeniable that he has such a heart for both his work and for the fans. Anyone can see the remarkable joy in Sam that comes with the unveiling of each new piece and every new friend he makes in his gallery, at race tracks and events such as ours. His exuberant spirit is contagious as he lives his dream of matching his art with his passion for motorsports, continuously contributing to and defining the aesthetic experience of NASCAR today.

Sam continues to amaze crowds with his artistic contributions to race track program covers and motorsports advertising campaigns, imaginative guitar designs, Christmas-themed original works, and his ever strong love of original art and graphic design illustrations. With his contributions to organizations such as The NASCAR Foundation, Speedway Children's Charities, The Jeff Gordon Foundation, and The American Diabetes Association, his talents are able to give back in a unique way. His work has been featured in The NASCAR Hall of Fame, The North Carolina Motorsports Hall of Fame, The Speedway Club At Charlotte Motor Speedway, in race team, sponsor, driver, speedway and fan collections scattered around the world. Sam Bass has proven to be truly a one-of-a-kind original, devoted to his craft and focused on chasing and realizing his dream.

Sam has done a number of paint schemes for various NASCAR teams including many for the No. 24 Jeff Gordon car and so shares a direct connection with Grand Marshal Ray Evernham, Jeff's longtime crew chief. Please join us in welcoming Sam Bass as a very special VIP guest to this year's Elegance event. Being a Sepsis Survivor and a Type 1 Diabetic himself, we are pleased that one of our primary causes is to raise funds for JDRF. Sam will be autographing and selling his merchandise at The Elegance and donating a portion of the proceeds to our charities.
