For 36 years, The Car Book has selected vehicles for this recognition based on their response to the performance and safety needs of the American car buyer. The 2016 Genesis is equipped with many advanced safety technology options, including ESC, Lane Departure Warning System, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Brake Assist and Electronic Brake Distribution, Lane Change Assist and a rearview camera. In addition, the Genesis includes Sensory Surround Safety Technologies that help driver alertness, focusing on total occupant safety and the safety of other drivers nearby. The 2016 Sonata added even more safety equipment, making Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) functionality available to models previously equipped with Forward Collision Warning (FCW). Standard safety equipment includes Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Traction Control System; a driver's side blind-spot mirror; seven airbags, including a driver's knee airbag; four-wheel disc brakes and ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist; and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with indicators for each tire.
